Dr Kuhendra Balakrishnan (Bala)

Dr. Kuhendra Balakrishnan (Bala) is a dual-trained Cardiologist/General Physician and cardiac imaging specialist.

He graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne and completed his advanced training in Cardiology and General Medicine at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg and Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania. Subsequently, he undertook a non-invasive cardiac imaging fellowship focusing on echocardiography and cardiac CT at Monash Heart.

Dr. Balakrishnan manages a wide variety of adult cardiovascular conditions including coronary artery disease and cardiac risk assessment, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, hypertension and dyslipidaemia.

He has a special interest in transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), CT coronary angiography (CTCA) and CT calcium score.

The combination of dual specialist training in Cardiology and General Medicine enables Dr. Balakrishnan to provide comprehensive care plans tailoring specialist cardiology treatment to patients with complex medical conditions. As well as providing a high standard of holistic and individualised care, he prides himself on educating his patients about their condition to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

When attending our rooms you will notice changes such as reduced seating in our waiting room, distancing markings on the floor, protective screens, increased signage on our doors and walls and staff using protective clothing and equipment. Whilst this may seem overwhelming to some, the purpose is for your safety and that of our staff. Please be assured though that our team remain dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and cardiac care.

It is important not to neglect your cardiac health during this crisis and we remain committed to providing all of our usual services.
