Dr Kuhendra Balakrishnan (Bala) is a dual-trained Cardiologist/General Physician and cardiac imaging specialist.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne and completed his advanced training in Cardiology and General Medicine at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg and Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania. Subsequently, he undertook a non-invasive cardiac imaging fellowship focusing on echocardiography and cardiac CT at Monash Heart.
Dr Balakrishnan manages a wide variety of adult cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease and cardiac risk assessment, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, hypertension and dyslipidaemia.
He has a special interest in transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), CT coronary angiography (CTCA) and CT calcium score.
The combination of dual specialist training in cardiology and general medicine enables Dr Balakrishnan to provide comprehensive care plans that tailor specialist cardiology treatment to patients with complex medical conditions. In addition to providing a high standard of holistic and individualised care, he prides himself on educating his patients about their condition to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
